This small space in a wide-open setting presented several challenges. The client requested an eating area with pergola, planting which included as many herbs as possible, and low maintenance in an enclosed space to keep her dog from escaping into neighbours' gardens (the apartment is part of a larger rural structure) – all this without creating a 'hemmed in' atmosphere or detracting unduly from a superb view.
