MC and her mother lived in a building site for months after buying this ground-floor flat in the seaside town of Ostia, near Rome: first the block itself – a fine 1960s building with walls faced with pale blue mosaic tiles – was refurbished, then the flat underwent a makeover. The final touch was the delightful L-shaped garden, completed for spring 2011.
