At the Locanda Toscanini, in the southern Tuscan village of Le Piazze, the owners sought a way of making the narrow courtyard running around the palazzo into a seating area for guests of the hotel and restaurant. The existing flowerbeds, running the length of the perimeter walls, were removed and replaced with tall vases, creating room for the tables. A thick tree barrier and plant-covered fence make a visual barrier with the road outside. (In progress.)
