in the Umbrian town of Citta della Pieve, was wholly renovated when it came under new management
in 2004.
The garden presented several problems
- making a 'non-excluding' barrier between garden and street
- creating inviting outdoor seating
areas for restaurant and bar
- encouraging families to frequent the pizzeria-trattoria by providing running-around space for children... without turning it into a playground
- concealing the concrete wall of the supermarket next door
- making use of the original rotonda
The highly visibile inner ground-floor courtyard and first-floor terrace had been largely neglected, and sometimes used
as storage space.
